Pursuing Intimacy vs Fighting Sin

"Some people think the goal of Christianity is to not sin. Their whole Christian walk consists of fighting one sin after another. Sometimes they just fight the same sin over and over again. When will we learn to stop fighting sin and begin to pursue intimacy and relationship with a God who loves us unconditionally?

Imagine a marriage where the primary goal was to not commit adultery. The entire relationship was focused on avoiding any hint of unfaithfulness. What a horrible marriage! The goal of marriage is relational intimacy. The absence of adultery is the result. Freedom from sin is the result of relational intimacy with God. Stop trying not to sin and pursue intimacy with God."
